MY-SOS Emergency Solution
Personal Alarm with GPS Positioning and Response Centre
For People at risk
Summoning emergency help quickly and easily in life-threatening situations is essential but it’s often taken for granted that facilities and the ability to make the call will always be available. For many individuals working alone there is a far greater risk that they could encounter life-threatening situations and so need reassurance that should the time come assistance will be at hand. Employers also have a ‘duty of care’ to ensure that they reduce and manage the risk that their employees may face in the performance of their jobs.
MY-SOS has been developed to offer assurance to people at risk through a personal alarm that is robust, easy to carry and simple to use. It is aimed primarily at the lone worker and VIP market where individuals are at risk of violent attack, but is suitable for many other applications.
MY-SOS continually monitors its location through the use of global satellite positioning (GPS) and stores the information in memory. Pressing the large red and green buttons simultaneously sends an alarm call via GSM that includes the unique identification number of the device and positional coordinates to a 24/7/365 response centre. Software at the response centre immediately associates the identification number to personal details of the user and displays the information on screen with a map pin-pointing the location of the user. At the same time a microphone in the device can be automatically turned on so that an operator can ‘listen in’ to help determine the situation - a speaker also gives the ability of a two-way conversation between the operator and the user. (This feature along with others can be enabled / disabled.)
The operator will inform the relevant emergency authority immediately giving essential information about the user and also their whereabouts, which in many cases may not be known by the user. Also if MY-SOS moves more than 30 meters within a pre-specified time after an alarm call has been made the device will send another message to the response centre giving the new co-ordinates. This will ensure that the helping authority always knows the position of the person in distress even if they move.

| Sentinel Plus .. |
Whenever an intruder alarm signal is received by EMCS, our operators' first duty is to confirm whether the activation is genuine or false. Comprehensive information on each site is therefore the key to making fast and accurate decisions. This is one of the reasons why we chose to implement Sentinel Plus as our Alarm Receiving Centre software. As the most advanced Alarm Receiving Centre Software package available to support our operations. Sentinel Plus also provides many features to benefit the alarm installer as well.
Sentinel Plus is responsible for handling all incoming signaling and processing all data. It automatically co-ordinates our various systems and rapidly presents our operators with all known data for an activated site, together with the visual and audio confirmation if applicable. EMCS have worked closely with the software writers Monitor Computer Systems of York in it's development and the result is a system tailored to our exact requirements and in which we have unsurpassed knowledge.
This expertise helps the alarm installer considerably when making use of other facilities such as reporting, obtaining live data using "Netport" and automatically testing sites using TelePort. EMCS continue to work closely with Monitor; in the development of new features for Sentinel Plus, NetPort and TelePort and will generally be the first Alarm Receiving Centre to offer further advancements. |

| RedCARE |
RedCARE is an alarm signalling network provided by British Telecom. It is considered to be one of the most secure and reliable forms of signalling currently available. Using an existing BT line, it continuously monitors an alarm system and will pass an alarm activation immediately to EMCS. It will also respond if the phone line is damaged or even deliberately cut. In addition, the RedCare system helps to reduce the number of false alarms by automatically checking that a fault signal is not just a few seconds electrical interference on the line, before raising the alarm. To maximise security, RedCare signals are sent down two separate transmission paths and are uniquely coded for each premises.
Additionally, RedCare now also provide a dual signalling path technology, RedCare GSM. This technology uses the cellular SMS network should the land line system fail. |

| DualCom |
DualCom uses both wireless and land line signalling paths, the land line can use most PSTN Telephone lines whilst the wireless aspect of a DualCom uses "Paknet", a secure radio link for alarm signalling which is immune to the problem of line fault false alarms on monitored telephone lines. Alarm data is transmitted from a transmitter to a local base station and then via the Paknet X25 core network to EMCS. Transmission speed is on average 1-2 seconds and the system is capable of supporting alarm confirmation in line with NACOSS and ACPO requirements.
The DualCom transmitter is compatible with virtually any alarm panel and can be rapidly deployed where immediate alarm protection is required. |

Digi' Comms' |
Because of the need for more detailed information on an activated site, even the humble digital communicator has become increasingly sophisticated. Enhanced communicators using the Point ID or Sequential format can send us more detailed information such as which zone or zones have been activated and in what sequence and the user number which identifies who sets or un-sets the alarm. This provides the end-user with useful security and management information. EMCS can receive signals from all industry standard format digital communicators. |

| CCTV |
Adpro sell digital picture transmission systems which employ data compression and conditional refreshment techniques to transmit high quality CCTV camera pictures of a remote site through their"Fast Scan," Fast Trace," and "Fast VU" CCTV systems. The pictures take approximately 3-5 seconds to transmit if sent via a digital network such as ISDN. Our operators can view images from multiple cameras on a single site at a glance. We have complete control over each camera and can track events around the site. Two way voice communication works simultaneously with the images, allowing our operators to warn personnel on site and even warn off the intruders themselves before any damage is done. Additionally CCTV is increasingly being used as a method of alarm verification, indeed with the advent of IP based signalling systems and Integration into Sentinel Plus Video Verification is set to become a real leader in cost effective site management with a credible risk management avers strategy. |

| ACPO / ACPOS Policy |
ACPO & ACPOS's policy for Alarm Confirmation sets stringent targets and controls for the reduction of false alarms. Police forces nation-wide now require alarm calls to be confirmed in order to merit a high priority response. The ACPO policy states that both installers and Alarm Receiving Centre's will be penalised for exceeding target false alarm rates. Confirmation has therefore become one of the most important aspects of EMCS's monitoring service.
EMCS are powerfully equipped with the most effective facilities available to filter out false alarms and are able to secure the fastest possible police responses to alarm activation's.
AUDIO CONFIRMATION - Acoustic Intruder Analysis.
Verified System's Acoustic Intruder Analysis is a state-of-the art audio confirmation system which is fully integrated into EMCS's monitoring system. Because the system can be added easily to an existing alarm installation, this is a highly cost effective confirmation solution. Using this system, we can confirm an activation by monitoring the live audio transmission from various detection points around the site. The system provides a recording of the sounds from 30 seconds before the activation to 30 seconds after, which we can replay to help confirm the alarm. The confirmed alarm will then be passed on to the police and will merit high priority response. Each site can have a maximum of 40 sensors to allow acoustic monitoring at each detection point. EMCS can remotely control and monitor the sensors either individually or in groups. We also provide monitoring facilities for audio confirmation systems from ICM and DA Systems.
POINT ID & or SEQUENTIAL VERIFICATION
Point ID is the simplest alarm confirmation technique. It uses an enhanced digital communicator and compatible control panel to provide sequential activation signals. Using this system our operators can identify which zone has been activated first and can then track an intruder around the site as further activation's from adjacent zones are received. It is important to note however that the system must be programmed to send a "Confirmed" alarm channel as well as the individual points, multiple points of activation are not in themselves a confirmed alarm.
VISUAL VERIFICATION
Additionally CCTV is increasingly being used as a method of alarm verification, indeed with the advent of IP based signalling systems and Integration into Sentinel Plus, Video Verification is set to become a real leader in cost effective site management with a credible risk avers management strategy.
OPEN & CLOSE PERIODS
Open and Close signalling enables us to filter out false alarm calls due to user error during open periods. If we receive an alarm activation immediately after an open signal, or vice versa, our operators will call to confirm the alarm. Furthermore, if we receive an activation for a site which has been signaled as closed, we can be sure that the site has no one on it.
EMCS can offer two levels of Open and Close signalling: Open and Close Logging where the signals are simply logged for site management and in the instance of an activation at normal opening times. Also Open and Close Monitoring where we are alerted automatically if a site is opened early or not closed at its pre-determined time. This avoids a situation where a site is vacated without the alarm being set. Open and Close Monitoring customers may also request reports detailing all open and close signals. An advantage of Open and Close signalling is that the majority of alarm panels are able to accommodate this method easily and therefore inexpensively.
Alarm & Abort allows users to enter an abort code in the event of an accidental activation. When we receive an abort code signal, we treat the alarm as false and take no further action. |

| NetPORT |
NetPort is a software facility which allows installers direct access to their own data stored at EMCS's Alarm Receiving Centre. It is currently the fastest and most user friendly remote access system available from any Alarm Receiving Centre and offers the widest range of facilities, including putting systems "On & Off Test" The system uses your own PC and a modem or preferably Broadband with Internet Explorer Software (V6.nn). Having logged in, you will then have live access to up-to-the-minute customer data including: site information, recent history, status of all your sites and site exceptions, for example sites with no URN. You can also amend keyholder and Police URN Status information and enter NSI or SSAIB fault group codes in order to produce NSI or SSAIB false alarm reports. Using NetPort is the ideal way for you to produce a variety of reports. EMCS's computer will generate the report which you can then: view on your screen, print out on your own printer or e-mail to any location. Since your PC is acting only as a terminal and files are not actually up or downloaded, the link is secure.
(NOTE: Access must be requested, the service is only accessible once a software security "dongle" SSL Certificate has been sent to you.) |
